On Saturday 30 June the EGS held its annual charity golf day in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. 15 teams battled it out on a very hot day at Bar Hill Golf Course for the Barbara Fairhead Memorial Trophy. Golfers came from far and wide to participate; as well as the local contingent we had the Bogeymen from Southampton, Chan and Jimmi from High Wycombe and Andy and Louisa up from Kent.
Team runners-up with a very creditable 88 points was Galiano’s Galticos. I think that is the third time (I may be wrong) that they’ve finished second so they are obviously doing something right! Team winners on the day were the Boss Hogs comprising Babs Willis, Paul & Chris Field and Andy McGarry, very worthy winners with a great total of 90 points. It is particularly apt that Paul and Chris were in the winning team as the trophy is named after their Mum.
Individual winner with a very impressive 44 points off a handicap of 24 was one of the Bogeymen from Southampton, Jason McHugh. Needless to say Jason won’t be playing off 24 when the EGS play the Bogeymen at Bicester next month!!
I’d like to thank Rob Syer for organising the day which went like clockwork and which everyone enjoyed. I’d also like to thank Jackie, Alison, Karen, Deborah, Steve F, Dr Jones and The Don for helping out on the day. Without the helpers it would make our day a lot harder. And a big thank you to all at Bar Hill for a wonderful day.
Now for the important bit! We raised £3,402 on the day for Macmillan which is a tremendous figure so again a bit thank you to all who took part in whatever shape or form.
