First of all I would like to say thank you to all those who attended the first EGS outing of 2018 season which was also my first as EGS Captain.
After a slow start to the day and some luke warm coffee to accompany our bacon sandwiches and a few late arrivals in the shape of our friends from Southampton ( who had too much alcohol down the Ex on Friday night apparently being led astray by my Vice Captain ) The course although perhaps a bit long for some was a good challenge to open the season and given all the recent bad weather was in pretty good condition, I for one would like to try it again next year but perhaps when the better weather has firmed up the fairways and the greens .
As for the golf on the day there were a few high scores and a few in the low to mid thirties with the rest of us bringing up the rear with a lot of scores in the twenties.
Winners on the day were,
Tony (Oh my poor knee!) Gentile with a great shot into the 2nd to nick Nearest the Pin in 2 from Stu Wren,
Steve (Crocodile Dundee) Wenta with a majestic flick with his gap wedge on the 14th to claim Nearest the Pin.
Martin (The Bandit) Ray on the 17th to win the Longest Drive.
Second place on the day with a great score of 37 pts. Steve Went ( Have a look Andy he needs a cut )
First place on the day with an outstanding score of 42 pts. was Ciaran “Chez” Hoey.
Well played to all the winners .
I didn’t award a captains prize this time around as we have not had the Captains prize back from the last winner, so whoever you are please bring it along next time.
Next outing will be Heydon Grange Golf Club 17th Feb the usual email will be doing the rounds soon please respond early to avoid disappointment .
