Saturday 10 December saw the 2016 edition of the EGS Xmas dinner. With our best ever attendance of 41 people, a great night was had by all. The food was excellent and the service superb as usual, especially given the numbers, so a big thank you to Paul and Sarah and all the bar and kitchen staff.
With all the playing prizes awarded after the Abbotsley event there was just two presentations on the night. The first went to retiring Captain, Andy Wren, who was presented with a hip flask from the society for his great work as captain for the last two years. Andy stepped up at short notice when Pete Goddard returned to Scotland to take up a new job. Thanks again Andy for all your efforts over the last two years.
The second award was the Captain’s Trophy for contributions to the Society. This richly deserved award went to Nick Gabb. Nick has organised the Charity Day for the last few years and, along with Kev McGinty and others, has organised the Society overseas weekends. Well done Nick and again thank you for all you do.
A special mention goes to Dave and Diane Squires who turned up in Christmas suits that are absolutely brilliant. I hope someone got a photo of them!
All that leaves me to do is to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
