The EGS annual charity day in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support took place on Saturday at Bar Hill Golf Club. 14 teams took part in the competition on what was, apart from a couple of short showers, a fine if somewhat blustery day. The course was in very good condition considering the recent wet weather.
The winning team with a score of 90 points was Bob’s Bandits, the irony of that being that Bob couldn’t make it and had to be replaced! The individual winner was the EGS’s own Steve Van Danzig with 42 points. Steve also picked up a couple of the hole prizes as well. Excellent round Steve.
I’d just like to thank all the people who took part in the day along with the helpers, Jackie Wren, Karen Foster, Steve Favell, Mick Laugharne, Dave Jones, Paul Sharp and Joe Woolf, along with Rob Syer for sorting out the money. I’d also like to thank Nick Gabb for heading up the organising team, Brian May for sorting out the posters and Phil Malley for printing the cards and the emergency poster printing session on Saturday morning! If I’ve missed anyone out please accept my apologies.
As usual the staff at Bar Hill were very helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble for them and the food was excellent.
All in all a very enjoyable day which raised £2,810 for Macmillan Cancer Support which is a magnificent sum for such a great cause.
