Hi boys & girls,
This months Captains report comes from a remarkably pleasant St Ives considering the weather forecast, it would appear that my regular sacrifices to the weather gods have not gone unnoticed.
Thanks to all who took part this turned out to be another very well attended event with 23 on show. Scores on the day considering the difficulty of the course were superb baring a few a few of us (Yours truly included), well done chaps.
Down to the nitty-gritty the first award for the day was for nearest the pin, this was picked up after a splendid shot from Tony(what with these knees) Gentile. Great shot Tony.
It gave me great pleasure to award the nearest the pin in two to our chairman Steve( first trophy for four years) Tatham for an almost unbeatable shot at the 13th. according to eye witnesses it was not a thing of beauty but it got the job done. Well done Steve.
Longest drive was claimed by Paul (bring it on Stuart) Jones with a cracker on the 18th. Nice one Paul.
Top prize for the day went to countback with both players scoring a remarkable 41 points. After scoring a mad 25 points on the front nine Kev (the bandit) Ashton managed to protect his handicap on the back nine to eventually finish second. Great play Kev.
Our winner with the better back nine went to a man in form after scoring 40 points at Rutland two weeks previous was Simon (not a member of the 30 club anymore) Clark. Top playing Simon our handicap secretary is honing his machete as we speak.
You can see the results table, winners photos & race to Dubai update below.
Finally this months captain’s award goes to Zane Sheldrake for I’m not sure at which hole putting the flag stick in his golf bag & trying to put his putter in the hole. The consensus of opinion was that this would probably improve Zane putting stats. Nice senior moment Zane.
Next game is charity day on Saturday followed by Chestfield Downs On 30 July.
See you all soon.
